Numerical modeling of water pollution by products of chemical reactions from the activities of industrial facilities at variable and constant temperatures of the environment

Alibek Issakhov et al.

Summary: The study investigates the behavior of heated effluents discharged into the Ilek River in Aktobe, Kazakhstan, and their dispersion characteristics at different flow rates. The chemical reaction between the discharged substance and the water is numerically examined. The study considers the variable temperature of the river and compares it with modeling results at a constant temperature, finding that the resulting products exceed the maximum allowable value and cause significant damage to the aquatic environment.

Numerical analysis of solid barrier heights and trees with porosity properties influence on the automobile's emission dispersion in the residential area

Alibek Issakhov et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the distribution of nitrogen dioxide pollution in a specific street in Almaty city, Kazakhstan. It describes the effect of porosity on the spread of nitrogen dioxide and compares the calculated results with previous data. It identifies that a superposed barrier along the road significantly reduces greenhouse gas concentrations near the pedestrian zone. An optimal combination of a 2.5 m high barrier and a tree with a total height of 15 m, where the stem is 3 m and the crown is 12 m, is chosen to normalize ventilation and protect the pedestrian zone from poisonous gases.

Summary: This paper presents a comprehensive study on the distribution of nitrogen dioxide concentration in a street canyon in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The study validates a mathematical model and a numerical algorithm through simulation, and investigates the impact of different types of buildings and trees on pollutant spread. The results highlight the significant reduction in gas concentration levels through the presence of combined barriers.

The assessment of water pollution by chemical reaction products from the activities of industrial facilities: Numerical study

Alibek Issakhov et al.

Summary: Water pollution modeling system was developed to study the spatio-temporal changes in pollutants from industrial activities. The results showed that pollutants spread downstream with reduced concentration, and the chemical reaction products caused harm to aquatic flora and fauna. Numerical results provide insights into complex interactions of flow and chemical composition in different river flow conditions.

Dam-Break Modeling: LBM as the Way towards Fully 3D, Large-Scale Applications

Stefano Miliani et al.

Summary: Free-surface flows are crucial in environmental hydraulic problems, with reduced complexity models like DI-SW being commonly used. However, these models lack flow velocity at the bed, which is important for estimating scour effects. The lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) has shown impressive performance compared to traditional methods, providing accurate simulations even on desktop computers.

The impact of a multilevel protection column on the propagation of a water wave and pressure distribution during a dam break: Numerical simulation

Alibek Issakhov et al.

Summary: This study numerically analyzed the behavior of an incompressible fluid, sediment, and solid particles debris during a dam break. The model's reliability was verified by comparing numerical results with experimental data, considering the influence of water flow on solid particles and sediments. The study also looked at the reduction in pressure on downstream additional dams in the presence of cylindrical columns during dam failure.
