Analysis of intracranial pressure pulse waveform in traumatic brain injury patients: a CENTER-TBI study

Agnieszka Uryga et al.

Summary: This study aimed to analyze cerebrospinal pressure-volume compensation in traumatic brain injury (TBI) patients using intracranial pressure (ICP) pulse waveform analysis. The results showed that the pulse amplitude of ICP (AMP), high frequency centroid (HFC), and higher harmonics centroid (HHC) could predict mortality, while the pulse shape index (PSI) could potentially serve as an early warning sign of intracranial hypertension. Among patients with low ICP, elevated AMP, PSI, and HFC were associated with poor outcome.

End-to-End Automatic Morphological Classification of Intracranial Pressure Pulse Waveforms Using Deep Learning

Cyprian Mataczynski et al.

Summary: This study proposes an end-to-end approach to classify intracranial pressure (ICP) waveforms and evaluates its potential clinical applicability. The Residual Neural Network using 1-D ICP signal as input is identified as the best performing model. Patients with unfavorable outcome exhibit significantly lower incidence of normal waveforms even at low ICP levels.

Compliance of the cerebrospinal space: comparison of three methods

Agnieszka Kazimierska et al.

Summary: This study compared three measures of cerebrospinal compliance in 36 normal-pressure hydrocephalus patients. The results showed that an increase in ICP caused a significant decrease in all compliance estimates, with strong positive correlations between the estimators. This suggests that indirect methods allow for relative changes in compliance assessment and can be continuously monitored.
