Prevalence and Characterization of Quinolone Resistance in Campylobacter spp. Isolates in Chicken Livers from Retail Stores in Georgia, USA

Hung-Yueh Yeh et al.

Summary: This study compared two PCR assays to identify Campylobacter isolates and evaluated their antibiotic resistance and genetic diversity of quinolone resistance determining regions (QRDRs). The findings showed that some isolates were resistant to antibiotics and had various mutations in the QRDRs. In addition to the mutation at residue 86, other mechanisms may contribute to quinolone resistance.

Emergence of Erythromycin Resistance Methyltransferases in Campylobacter coli Strains in France

Quentin Jehanne et al.

Summary: Antimicrobial resistance in campylobacters, particularly Campylobacter coli isolates, is a global concern. New resistance mechanisms, such as 23S rRNA mutations and methyltransferases like Erm(B) and Erm(N), have been identified through genomic analysis of multiple resistant strains. The emergence of methyltransferases in campylobacters in France is worrying and may pose a challenge in the near future.
