Climate Indices-Based Analysis of Rainfall Spatiotemporal Variability in Pernambuco State, Brazil

Tarciana Rafaela Barbosa Figueiroa Silva et al.

Summary: The state of Pernambuco in Brazil, particularly its Northeast region, is prone to extreme hydrological events such as heavy rain and drought. This study analyzed the spatiotemporal variability of rainfall in Pernambuco and examined the occurrence of extreme rainfall events. The results indicated that the state's eastern region experiences more distributed precipitation throughout the year, while severe droughts occurred in most regions during the 1990s. The study also found a possible change in rainfall patterns in recent years, warranting further research to determine the causes. Overall, the trends in rainfall were not significant, except for certain regions.

Can the stable isotope variability in a zooplankton time series be explained by its key species?

Morgana Brito-Lolaia et al.

Summary: Stable isotope analysis is a common tool for studying marine food webs, with this study using a species-biomass-isotopes-mixture (SBIM) approach to identify key taxa associated with the temporal variability of zooplankton isotopes in a tropical marine ecosystem. The findings highlight the importance of less abundant species in shaping marine food webs and provide insights into ecosystem states and trophic levels.

Factors affecting the seasonal variability of planktonic shrimps (Dendrobranchiata) along an estuary-ocean gradient on the Amazon continental shelf

Leiliane Souza da Silva et al.

Summary: The taxonomic composition and spatial distribution of dendrobranchiate shrimps on the Amazon continental shelf were investigated, revealing differences in density distribution of various taxa in the area. This study provides valuable information for understanding the ecological environment and shrimp resources in this region.

Permutation Tests for Regression, ANOVA, and Comparison of Signals: The permuco Package

Jaromil Frossard et al.

Summary: Recent research has developed permutation methods to test parameters in linear models and repeated measures ANOVA, which can control family-wise error rate. The permuco package is introduced in this article, implementing various permutation methods for univariate tests and signal comparisons, particularly in analyzing event-related potential (ERP) experiments using EEG. Various tutorial cases are provided for practical application.
