Dose-response association of Chinese visceral adiposity index with comorbidity of hypertension and diabetes mellitus among elderly people

Yongcheng Ren et al.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the associations between Chinese visceral adiposity index (CVAI) and comorbidity of hypertension and diabetes mellitus, as well as hypertension or diabetes mellitus alone, in elderly people. The results showed a linear and positive correlation between CVAI and HTN-DM comorbidity, HTN or DM, HTN, and DM. Insulin resistance played a key role in mediating these associations.

The role of adiponectin in cardiovascular disease ?

Jin Peng et al.

Summary: Cardiovascular disease is a common and serious health issue, especially for middle-aged and elderly people. Adiponectin, as a key adipokine, has therapeutic effects on various cardiovascular diseases by improving lipid metabolism and protecting vascular cells. Further research on the molecular and cellular mechanisms of the adiponectin system may provide new insights for the treatment of cardiovascular disease.

Association of Chinese Visceral Adiposity Index and Its Dynamic Change With Risk of Carotid Plaque in a Large Cohort in China

Haoran Bi et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the association between the Chinese visceral adiposity index (CVAI) and its dynamic change with the risk of carotid plaque in a large Chinese cohort. The results showed a significant positive correlation between CVAI and carotid plaque risk in a nonlinear dose-response pattern. This association was stronger in men than in women. No significant association was found between the change in CVAI and carotid plaque risk.

The association between Chinese Visceral Adipose Index and coronary heart disease: A cohort study in China

Yilin Xie et al.

Summary: This study examines the association between Chinese visceral adipose index (CVAI) and the risk of coronary heart disease (CHD) in a large cohort. The results show a significant link between CVAI and CHD risk, with a higher impact on males and a non-linear dose-response relationship.

Predictors of poor clinical outcome despite complete reperfusion in acute ischemic stroke patients

Noel van Horn et al.

Summary: In patients with acute ischemic stroke from large vessel occlusion treated with mechanical thrombectomy, a significant proportion still have poor clinical outcome despite complete reperfusion. Older age, higher stroke severity on admission, and lower early CT score were independently associated with poor outcome in this study.

Summary: A reduction of NIHSS score >= 6 points appeared to be the optimal definition of ENI. The nomogram composed of age, blood glucose, recanalization, sICH and baseline ASPECTS may predict the probability of ENI in ischaemic stroke patients treated with EVT.
