Full-range nonlinear analysis of post-tensioned anchorage zones based on modified strut-and-tie model

Linyun Zhou et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a modified strut-and-tie model (MSTM) to predict the behavior of concentric anchorage zones throughout loading process. By incorporating compatibility conditions and simplified formulas, the elastic and inelastic behavior of concentric anchorage zones, including load-strain response, load-deformation response, and crack width, can be estimated.

Shengxin Fan et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a strut-and-tie model for unsymmetrically-loaded deep beams by simplifying the problem and using a minimum strain-energy criterion to define the optimal geometry. The model is validated against test results and finite element models, and is capable of accurately predicting the behavior of both symmetric and unsymmetric deep beams.

Strut-and-tie model for predicting shear strength of squat shear walls under earthquake loads

Panatchai Chetchotisak et al.

Summary: In this study, a strut-and-tie model (STM) was established to predict the peak shear strength of squat shear walls with and without boundary elements. The model was based on two independent shear-transferring mechanisms: diagonal strut and truss mechanisms. Through nonlinear optimization, three empirical coefficients describing the complex behavior of squat walls and the contribution of the web reinforcement were determined.

Modified interactive strut-and-tie modeling of reinforced concrete deep beams and corbels

Panatchai Chetchotisak et al.

Summary: This study proposes a strut-and-tie model (STM) to predict the shear strength of reinforced concrete deep beams and corbels. The model is derived based on two independent force-transferring mechanisms, diagonal strut and truss mechanisms, and their combined strength contributions. The proposed STM is calibrated and verified using a large database, and its prediction is found to be more accurate than other benchmark approaches.

Improved empirical model for the strut efficiency factor and the stiffness degradation coefficient for the strength and the deflection prediction of FRP RC deep beams

Job Thomas et al.

Summary: An improved empirical model for predicting the ultimate load and deflection of concrete deep beams longitudinally reinforced with FRP bars that failed in shear is proposed in this paper, with the models validated using a wide range of parameters in the database. The engineering significance of the parameters involved is illustrated through parametric study, showing that the proposed models accurately predict the ultimate load and deflection for various parameter values.

Summary: Competition in civil engineering markets often requires the use of advanced composite materials, such as fiber reinforced polymers, which offer advantages such as low cost, durability, lightweight, and fatigue resistance. These materials have been successfully applied in various structures like bridges, buildings, and tunnels due to their high-performance characteristics. Understanding the mechanical properties of composite materials is crucial for their application in extreme loading and environmental conditions.
