Abnormal Default Mode Network Homogeneity in Major Depressive Disorder With Gastrointestinal Symptoms at Rest

Meiqi Yan et al.

Summary: This study found that patients with major depressive disorder (MDD) who have gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms experience more severe depressive symptoms compared to those without GI symptoms. Distinct patterns in the default mode network (DMN) were also observed in MDD patients with GI symptoms, which can potentially serve as a brain imaging marker for differentiating patients with GI symptoms from those without GI symptoms.

Summary: This study is the first to explore whether abnormal spontaneous neuronal activities exist in patients in the long-term remission stage of major depressive disorder (MDD). The findings indicate that there are disruptions in regional homogeneity and functional connectivity in the brains of MDD patients, which may contribute to depression relapse.

Summary: This study found that brain functional abnormalities at rest in patients with OCD and showed that anatomical distance has an effect on the whole-brain functional connectivity patterns in OCD. Abnormal regional homogeneity in right caudate as a potential neuroimaging biomarker for mild cognitive impairment: A resting-state fMRI study and support vector machine analysis

Yujun Gao et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to explore neuroimaging biomarkers for predicting mild cognitive impairment (MCI) using support vector machine (SVM) classification. Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) was performed on 53 MCI patients and 68 healthy controls. The results showed decreased regional homogeneity (ReHo) in the right caudate of MCI patients compared to healthy controls. SVM classification achieved an overall accuracy of 68.6%, sensitivity of 62.26%, and specificity of 58.82%.

Shared and distinct homotopic connectivity changes in melancholic and non-melancholic depression

Xiaoxiao Shan et al.

Summary: The study revealed common and distinct homotopic connectivity patterns between melancholic and non-melancholic patients. Decreased VMHC in the PCC may be a state-related change for depression, while reduced VMHC in the precentral gyrus and postcentral gyrus may be a distinctive neurobiological feature for melancholic MDD. VMHC in the precentral gyrus could be used as potential imaging markers to differentiate melancholic patients from non-melancholic MDD patients.
