Facial feature embedded CycleGAN for VIS-NIR translation

Huijiao Wang et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a facial feature embedded CycleGAN called FFE-CycleGAN for visible and near-infrared (VIS-NIR) face recognition. The model learns to translate between VIS and NIR face images while preserving the distributions of true images. The experimental results on the Oulu-CASIA and WHU VIS-NIR databases demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed FFE-CycleGAN, achieving 96.5% and 98.9% accuracy, respectively.

Dual Face Alignment Learning Network for NIR-VIS Face Recognition

Weipeng Hu et al.

Summary: This study proposes a novel Dual Face Alignment Learning algorithm for exploring neutral face representations in cross-modal images. It utilizes feature-level and image-level alignment to learn neutral face features and utilizes cross-domain information to extract identity features, thereby eliminating intra-class variations and purifying identity information.

Part-facial relational and modality-style attention networks for heterogeneous face recognition

Jian Yu et al.

Summary: The purpose of heterogeneous face recognition (HFR) is to match face images of the same person from different modalities. This study proposes a cross-modality dual-constraint (CMDC) approach that includes the part-facial relational attention network (PRAN) and modality-style attention network (MSAN) to address the limitations of existing methods. The CMDC approach incorporates local content features and modality-style information, and applies a dual-constrained loss to enhance the performance of HFR. Experimental results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed approach over the state-of-the-art methods.

Summary: This study introduces a coupled adversarial learning (CAL) approach to address the challenging issue of VIS-NIR face matching, by conducting adversarial learning on both image and feature levels. Experimental results demonstrate that CAL not only synthesizes high-quality VIS or NIR images, but also achieves state-of-the-art recognition results.
