Contemporary patterns of presentation, diagnostics and management of upper tract urothelial cancer in 101 centres: the Clinical Research Office of the Endourological Society Global upper tract urothelial carcinoma registry

Summary: A multicentre registry was launched to assess patterns of presentation, diagnostics, and treatment in patients with upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC). Data from 2380 patients over a 5-year period were collected, showing that most patients presented with symptoms, with macroscopic hematuria being the main symptom. Computed tomography (CT) was the most common imaging modality used, and ureteroscopy (URS) was part of the diagnostic process for nearly half of the patients, with a significant portion receiving endoscopic treatment. Overall, the data aligns with known epidemiologic characteristics of UTUC, highlighting the preference for CT imaging and the increasing use of diagnostic URS, though a substantial number of treatment decisions were made without complete endoscopic information.
