Application of the long axial field-of-view PET/CT with low-dose [18F]FDG in melanoma

Christos Sachpekidis et al.

Summary: The study aims to determine an appropriate acquisition time range for the new long axial field of view Biograph Vision Quadra PET/CT scanner in melanoma patients. The results show that low-dose LAFOV PET/CT imaging is feasible and can provide comparable diagnostic data to standard lengths of acquisition in a shorter scanning time, which is significant for the diagnostic work-up of melanoma patients.

Konstantinos G. Zeimpekis et al.

Summary: This study evaluates the image quality characteristics of two NEMA phantoms with Y-90 on a long AFOV PET/CT and identifies the optimized reconstruction setup for imaging patients with hepatocellular carcinoma after Y-90 radioembolization. The results show that a 20-minute reconstruction time provides images with acceptable signal-to-noise ratio.

Characterization of the partial volume effect along the axial field-of-view of the Biograph Vision Quadra total-body PET/CT system for multiple isotopes

Julia G. Mannheim et al.

Summary: The study aimed to determine the contrast recovery coefficients (CRCs) and voxel noise levels for multiple isotopes throughout the 1.06 m axial field of view (FOV) of the Biograph Vision Quadra PET/CT system. Cylindrical phantoms with different sphere sizes and isotopes were used to evaluate the partial volume effect (PVE). The results showed distinct differences in PVE within the FOV, which can significantly affect the quantitative analysis of patient data. MRD322 resulted in slightly lower CRC values and significantly reduced voxel noise compared to MRD85.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the suitability of using total-body Y-90 PET with the uEXPLORER scanner for liver dosimetry and investigate possible improvements in TARE Y-90 PET-based dosimetry. The results showed good agreement between the uEXPLORER and mCT in terms of total liver-absorbed dose, with the uEXPLORER demonstrating higher signal-to-noise ratio and lower image noise, which is expected to improve dose quantification and tumor dosimetry.

Abbreviated scan protocols to capture 18F-FDG kinetics for long axial FOV PET scanners

Varsha Viswanath et al.

Summary: Kinetic parameters from dynamic F-18-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) imaging provide complementary insights for the study of diseases compared to static clinical imaging. Long axial field-of-view (LAFOV) PET scanners have advantages over standard axial field-of-view (SAFOV) scanners, including the ability to perform multi-organ dynamic imaging in a single bed position and the potential for abbreviated dynamic imaging protocols. This study demonstrates that dynamic imaging for 10-15 minutes immediately post-injection, followed by a 5-minute scan at 1-hour post-injection, can accurately and precisely quantify F-18-FDG on a long axial FOV scanner, potentially allowing for more widespread use of dynamic F-18-FDG imaging.

International recommendations for personalised selective internal radiation therapy of primary and metastatic liver diseases with yttrium-90 resin microspheres

Hugo Levillain et al.

Summary: This study established recommendations for the optimisation of selective internal radiation therapy (SIRT) with yttrium-90 (Y-90)-resin microspheres, based on expert panel discussions and survey responses from leading experts in the field. The recommendations cover various aspects of SIRT, including activity prescription, post-treatment dosimetry, and imaging for treatment verification. It is recommended that a multidisciplinary team define treatment strategy and therapeutic intent, and that a personalised approach using dosimetry be adopted for activity prescription. Additionally, post-SIRT imaging and dosimetry are strongly recommended for treatment verification and assessment.
