Nano-zinc enhances gene regulation of non-specific immunity and antioxidative status to mitigate multiple stresses in fish

Neeraj Kumar et al.

Summary: The toxicity of ammonia and arsenic pollution, combined with high temperature, is affecting and causing the extinction of aquatic animals. This study investigates the use of zinc nanoparticles to mitigate the effects of arsenic and ammonia toxicity and high-temperature stress in Pangasianodon hypophthalmus. The results show that the use of Zn-NPs improves antioxidant enzyme activity, reduces lipid peroxidation, enhances immune-related attributes, regulates gene expressions, and promotes blood profiling and detoxification.

Multi-biomarker approach to assess chromium, pH and temperature toxicity in fish

Neeraj Kumar et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the acute and chronic toxicity of chromium (Cr) on Anabas testudineus, a type of fish, and its interaction with pH and high temperature. The results showed that the toxicity of Cr on A. testudineus was enhanced when exposed to low pH and high temperature simultaneously. Additionally, Cr had significant effects on stress enzymes, biomarkers, and thermal tolerance of A. testudineus.

Exploring mitigating role of zinc nanoparticles on arsenic, ammonia and temperature stress using molecular signature in fish

Neeraj Kumar et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of zinc nanoparticles (Zn-NPs) on mitigating arsenic, ammonia, and high temperature stresses in Pangasianodon hypophthalmus. The results showed that Zn-NPs at a concentration of 4 mg kg(-1) diet significantly improved the expression of growth hormone regulator genes and antioxidant genes in the liver and gill tissues. Additionally, Zn-NPs enhanced the expression of immune-related genes and protected against pathogenic infections in fish. These findings suggest that Zn-NPs have great potential in modulating stress and enhancing immunity in aquatic organisms.

Mitigating multiple stresses in Pangasianodon hypophthalmus with a novel dietary mixture of selenium nanoparticles and Omega-3-fatty acid

Neeraj Kumar et al.

Summary: The study investigated the effects of a novel dietary combination of selenium nanoparticles and omega-3-fatty acids on mitigating arsenic pollution, high-temperature stress, and bacterial infection in Pangasianodon hypophthalmus. Results showed that supplementation with Se-NPs at 0.2 mg kg(-1) diet and EPA + DHA at 0.2% and 0.4% reduced primary stress levels, enhanced antioxidant enzymes and immunity, and decreased arsenic bioaccumulation in fish tissues. Overall, the combination of Se-NPs and EPA + DHA demonstrated potential in alleviating stress factors and improving growth performance in P. hypophthalmus.
