Structural and optical characterization of tungsten phosphate glasses containing silver and erbium

L. M. Marcondes et al.

Summary: This study focused on the synthesis of tungsten-phosphate glasses containing silver chloride and the growth of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) in these glasses. The thermal properties, local structure, and optical properties were investigated, and the relationship between AgNPs size and the emission of Er3+ ions was studied. The results emphasize the importance of studying the size of noble metal nanoparticles and the excitation wavelength for the development of efficient photonic devices.

Tuning the plasmon resonance of gold nanoparticles in phase-separated glass via the local refractive index change

G. Shakhgildyan et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated the possibility for thermally-controlled tuning of the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) band position of gold nanoparticles in specific gold-doped glasses, achieving a maximum red-shift of up to 100 nm. The distinct red-shift of the LSPR band, driven by phase separation, represents a new approach for precise plasmonic tuning of gold nanoparticles in glass.
