Underestimating College Student Food Insecurity: Marginally Food Secure Students May Not Be Food Secure

Stephanie A. Brescia et al.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to understand the differences between marginally food secure college students and students with different levels of food security. The results showed that there were significant differences in academic performance between marginally food secure students and highly food secure students, but not between marginally food secure students and low food secure students. This suggests that marginally food secure populations should not be labeled as food secure.
