Psychological Stress in Parents of Children with Atopic Dermatitis: A Cross-sectional Study from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey

12-month prevalence of atopic dermatitis in resource-rich countries: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Summary: The lack of consistent prevalence estimates of atopic dermatitis (AD) globally has been attributed to variations in populations, age groups, methodologies, and case definitions used in previous studies. This systematic review aimed to provide a comprehensive analysis of 12-month AD prevalence in resource-rich countries using population-based studies and standardized case definitions. The meta-analysis revealed a 12-month prevalence of 9.2%, with significantly higher rates among children aged 0-5 years. Moreover, studies employing random sampling strategies yielded lower prevalence estimates compared to those relying on other sampling methods. No clear time trend in AD prevalence was observed between 1992 and 2013.

Views and experiences of managing eczema: systematic review and thematic synthesis of qualitative studies

Summary: The study synthesized 39 papers (reporting 32 studies) from 13 countries, developing four analytical themes: eczema not viewed as a long-term condition; significant psychosocial impact not acknowledged by others; hesitancy about eczema treatments; and insufficient information and advice. Findings suggest that frustration arises from managing a condition seen as mundane but with significant psychosocial impacts, complicated by conflicting and insufficient information and advice. Effective self-management could be supported by addressing beliefs about treatments, acknowledging psychosocial impacts, and providing clear advice.

Postpartum during COVID-19 pandemic: Portuguese mothers' mental health, mindful parenting, and mother-infant bonding

Summary: The study found that nearly a quarter of mothers in the postpartum period exhibited clinically significant levels of anxious and depressive symptoms. Mothers who gave birth during the COVID-19 pandemic had lower levels of mother-infant bonding compared to those who gave birth before the pandemic. Parenting stress and mindful parenting were significant factors contributing to mother-infant bonding.
