Robust growth of two-dimensional metal dichalcogenides and their alloys by active chalcogen monomer supply

Yonggang Zuo et al.

Summary: This study proposes a strategy of using active chalcogen monomer supply to achieve high-quality, stable, and controllable growth of two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs). The research successfully synthesized a uniform quaternary TMD alloy with three different anions. The study reveals that the active chalcogen monomers can bind and diffuse freely on a TMD surface, facilitating the nucleation, reaction, vacancy healing, and alloy formation during growth.

Non-Layered Te/In2S3 Tunneling Heterojunctions with Ultrahigh Photoresponsivity and Fast Photoresponse

Xuanhao Cao et al.

Summary: In this study, a tunneling heterojunction composed of non-layered In2S3 and Te flakes is systematically investigated. The heterojunction exhibits high reverse rectification ratio and photoresponsivity, as well as fast response time. The improved characteristics are attributed to the direct tunneling of the photoinduced carriers and a combined mechanism of photoconductive and photogating effects.

Approaching strain limit of two-dimensional MoS2 via chalcogenide substitution

Kailang Liu et al.

Summary: Strain engineering is a promising method for tuning the electronic properties of 2D materials. In this study, a facile strategy for the fabrication of highly strained MoS2 via chalcogenide substitution reaction (CSR) is reported. The resulting MoS2 sustains ultra large in-plane strain with great homogeneity, with the strain tunable by varying processing temperature, potentially allowing modulation of the bandgap for device applications.

Epitaxial Growth of 2D Bi2O2Se Nanoplates/1D CsPbBr3 Nanowires Mixed-Dimensional Heterostructures with Enhanced Optoelectronic Properties

Chao Fan et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the epitaxial growth of 1D CsPbBr3 nanowires on 2D Bi2O2Se nanoplates through a vertical vapor deposition method, forming 2D/1D heterostructures. The photoluminescence results show significant quenching of CsPbBr3 emission in the heterostructure, indicating charge carriers transfer from CsPbBr3 to Bi2O2Se. Waveguide characterization reveals that the epitaxial CsPbBr3 wires can efficiently confine and guide their emission, favoring the light absorption of Bi2O2Se.
