This article examines the connection between English studies and studies of Political Rhetoric and presents the current research agendas in 'Rhetorical Political Analysis' in the UK. It proposes a shared agenda that focuses on speech and argument as social action and is influenced by the concept of 'Rhetorical Citizenship', which emphasizes the right to fully participate in debates.
