Efficiency evaluation of maxillary molar distalization using Invisalign based on palatal rugae registration

Badr Sultan Saif et al.

Summary: This study compares the predicted and actual maxillary molar distalization using Invisalign and the palatal rugae area for registration and superimposition of digital models. The results suggest that Invisalign can be successfully used for adult patients requiring maxillary molar distalization, but there are significant differences between the predicted and achieved tooth movements. Additionally, there is a significant correlation between the amount of molar movement and anterior anchorage loss.

Combined orthodontic and surgical open bite correction: Principles for success. Part 1

G. William Arnett et al.

Summary: This study aimed to examine the stability of combined surgical and orthodontic bite correction, with a focus on open-bite closure. The results showed that stable open bite closure can be achieved through strict orthodontic and surgical protocols, although there was a statistically significant transverse relapse of the molars.

Cephalometric evaluation of intrusion of maxillary posterior teeth by miniscrews in the treatment of open bite

Leyla Cime Akbaydogan et al.

Summary: The study found that the use of orthodontic miniscrews and maxillary occlusal splints can lead to intrusion of the maxillary posterior teeth, reduction of anterior open bite, and mandibular advancement, suitable for patients with Class I and mild Class II malocclusions and anterior open bite anomalies.

Comparison between the designed and achieved mesiodistal angulation of maxillary canines and posterior teeth and influencing factors: First premolar extraction treatment with clear aligners

Xiaoxia Feng et al.

Summary: This study compared the designed and achieved mesiodistal angulation of maxillary canines and posterior teeth during first premolar extraction with clear aligner treatment. It identified the main influencing factors for preventing unwanted tipping of teeth towards the extraction space. The results showed that the designed crown tipping of posterior teeth and mesial tipping of canines can prevent unwanted tipping towards the extraction space.

Effects of miniscrew-assisted orthodontic treatment with premolar extractions on upper airway dimensions in adult patients with Class II high-angle malocclusion

Xiaoxin Shi et al.

Summary: The study revealed that in adult patients with Class II high-angle malocclusion, miniscrew-assisted treatment with premolar extractions led to an increase in upper airway dimensions and counterclockwise rotation of the mandible. The increase in upper airway dimensions significantly correlated with upward movement of the mandible.

Outcomes and Stability of Anterior Open Bite Treatment with Skeletal Anchorage in Non-Growing Patients and Adults Compared to the Results of Orthognathic Surgery Procedures: A Systematic Review

Piotr Malara et al.

Summary: This systematic review suggests that successful treatment of anterior open bite in non-growing patients and adults can be achieved through the intrusion of molar teeth using skeletal anchorage. However, due to varying methods of assessing treatment outcomes by different authors, it is inconclusive whether this treatment modality provides long-term results comparable to orthognathic surgery procedures.
