Hybrid Ligand Polymerization for Weakly Confined Lead Halide Perovskite Quantum Dots

Xianghua Wang et al.

Summary: Rational ligand passivation is crucial for enhancing the performance of weakly confined lead halide perovskite quantum dots (PQDs) through surface chemistry and/or microstrain. In situ passivation with 3-mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane (MPTMS) improves the photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) of CsPbBr3 PQDs up to 99% and enhances charge transport in the PQD film by one order of magnitude.

Designing stable lead halide perovskite nanocrystals: From a single particle to nanocomposites

Cynthia Collantes et al.

Summary: Metal halide perovskite nanocrystals have gained significant attention for their easy manufacturing, superior Photoluminiscence Quantum Yield, and remarkable optical properties. However, their practical implementation and future applications are hindered by stability issues such as spontaneous degradation, poor phase stability, and loss of colloidal stability. This review discusses the importance of understanding surface chemistry and ligand-binding patterns for improving the robustness and stability of perovskite nanocrystals. It also presents recent developments in encapsulation methods and explores their advantages and shortcomings for various applications.

Exploiting the Transformative Features of Metal Halides for the Synthesis of CsPbBr3@SiO2 Core-Shell Nanocrystals

Christian Rossi et al.

Summary: The encapsulation of CsPbBr3 perovskite nanocrystals within silica was achieved by utilizing the anhydride-induced transformation of Cs4PbBr6 nanocrystals. The resulting core-shell nanocrystals showed improved photoluminescence intensity and extended stability in ethanol. This study provides insights into the conditions required for the formation of CsPbBr3@SiO2 nanocrystals using transformative chemistry of metal halides.

Impact of Zn-doping on the composition, stability, luminescence properties of silica coated all-inorganic cesium lead bromide nanocrystals and their biocompatibility

M. R. Kar et al.

Summary: This study synthesized silica coated Zn-doped core@shell perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) with improved structural stability and emission intensity. The variation in Zn-doping controls the ratio of CsPbBr3 to Cs4PbBr6 perovskites inside the core and facilitates the growth of (OA)2PbBr4 shell, resulting in enhanced emission intensity and stability of the NCs.

Monodispersed CsPb2Br5@SiO2 Core-Shell Nanoparticles as Luminescent Labels for Biosensing

Cynthia Collantes et al.

Summary: Despite ongoing advances in metal halide perovskite nanocrystals, their use as luminescent labels for ex vivo imaging and biosensing is still in the early stages of investigation. The synthesis of monodispersed spherical CsPb2Br5@SiO2 core-shell nanoparticles by post-synthetic chemical transformation of 3D CsPbBr3 NCs has been achieved, with the potential for future applications in luminescent biological labels.

Controlling the growth of a SiO2 coating on hydrophobic CsPbBr3 nanocrystals towards aqueous transfer and high luminescence

Meng Li et al.

Summary: The successful preparation of CsPbBr3@SiO2 capsules with enhanced stability opens up new possibilities for the development of lead halide perovskite nanomaterials. The SiO2 shell acts as a buffer layer to block direct contact between CsPbBr3 and excess PbBr2 precursor, leading to improved stability in polar solvents and air. The bright green emission observed after 90 days under UV light further highlights the potential of this approach in improving the performance and longevity of these nanomaterials.
