Summary: An increase in consumption and inefficiency along with fluctuating trends in demand and supply are the main challenges faced by the energy business globally. This study examines the potential contributions of AI and ML technologies in expanding energy production in developing countries, where the issues are more prominent due to unauthorized connections and unmeasured energy. It primarily focuses on addressing frequent power outages and lack of access to energy in developing countries. The findings suggest that AI and ML can greatly contribute to predictive turbine maintenance, energy consumption optimization, grid management, energy price prediction, and residential building energy demand and efficiency assessment. The paper concludes with a discussion on the necessary actions for developing nations to benefit from AI and ML in the energy sector.
