Prospective study on embolization of intracranial aneurysms with the pipeline device (PREMIER study): 3-year results with the application of a flow diverter specific occlusion classification

Ricardo A. Hanel et al.

Summary: The pipeline embolization device (PED) is a safe and effective treatment for small- to medium-sized intracranial aneurysms. In this study, the complete occlusion rate of aneurysms at 3 years was 83.3%. Further angiographic evaluation showed that 97.1% of patients had complete occlusion, neck residual or aneurysm size reduction. The overall safety endpoint at 3 years was 2.8%.

Predictors of incomplete aneurysm occlusion after treatment with the Pipeline Embolization Device: PREMIER trial 1 year analysis

Ricardo A. Hanel et al.

Summary: In this study, predictors of treatment failure in patients with incomplete occlusion of aneurysms following flow diversion were analyzed. Age, smoking status, aneurysm location, and side branch involvement were found to be significant predictors of treatment outcome. Further research and technique adaptations may be needed to improve occlusion rates in these cases.

Time Line of Occlusion for Intracranial Aneurysms Treated with the Pipeline Embolization Device

Samuel J. Cler et al.

Summary: This study characterized the timeline of aneurysm occlusion following treatment with the Pipeline embolization device (PED) using real-world variability in timing of angiographic follow-up. Larger aneurysms demonstrated a longer median time to occlusion and lower rate of aneurysm occlusion, while the number of PEDs deployed or the use of adjunctive coiling did not affect the time line or likelihood of aneurysm occlusion.

Time Line of Occlusion for Intracranial Aneurysms Treated with the Pipeline Embolization Device

Samuel J. Cler et al.

Summary: This study utilized real-world variability in timing of angiographic follow-up to characterize the time line of aneurysm occlusion following treatment with the Pipeline embolization device (PED). The findings showed that larger aneurysms had a longer median time to occlusion and lower rate of occlusion, but the number of PEDs deployed or the use of adjunctive coiling did not affect the time line or likelihood of aneurysm occlusion. The median time to observed occlusion of aneurysms treated with a PED was 7.5 months.

Pipeline Embolization Device for Intracranial Aneurysms in a Large Chinese Cohort: Complication Risk Factor Analysis

Huibin Kang et al.

Summary: The study analyzed complications and predictors when using the Pipeline embolization device to treat intracranial aneurysms in Chinese population. The results showed that successful deployment after adjustment or unsuccessful device deployment, and the degree of immediate postoperative occlusion were novel independent predictors of PED-related ischemic stroke in Chinese population, with a complication rate similar to Western populations.
