Toxic Ag+ detection based on Au@Ag core shell nanostructure formation using Tannic acid assisted synthesis of Pullulan stabilized gold nanoparticles

Titilope John Jayeoye et al.

Summary: A sensitive colorimetric detection strategy for Ag+ detection was proposed using environmentally friendly synthesis of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) with tannic acid (TA) as the reductant and pullulan (PUL) as the stabilizing agent. The synthesized TA/PUL-AuNPs showed maximum absorbance at 529 nm and exhibited a berry red color. Addition of Ag+ to the probe resulted in color changes due to the formation of Au@Ag core shell nanostructure. The probe showed a hypsochromic shift in absorption maximum, from 529 to 409 nm, and demonstrated linear response to Ag+ concentrations.

Selective Heavy Atom Effect-Promoted Photosensitization Colorimetric Detection of Ag+ in Silver Ore Samples

Yanying Wang et al.

Summary: Development of an important and easy analytical method for screening silver ore samples is crucial for resource exploration and mining. A selective Ag+-promoted photosensitization colorimetric assay was developed, which allowed highly sensitive colorimetric detection of Ag+ with a visual limit of quantification as low as 0.2 ng/mL. The accuracy of the method was verified through analyzing certified reference material and real ore samples, showing good agreement with the results obtained by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ET-AAS).

A Review on Conducting Polymers for Colorimetric and Fluorescent Detection of Noble Metal Ions (Ag+, Pd2+, Pt2+/4+, and Au3+)

Sara A. Alqarni

Summary: This review article discusses the progress of chemosensors based on conducting polymers (CPs) for colorimetric and fluorimetric detection of noble metal ions in different environmental, agricultural, and biological samples. The limitations of CPs in their pristine form are overcome by hybridization with other materials. The findings and comparisons of sensing performances of these chemosensors are presented to guide the future design of CPs-based optical sensors for detecting noble metal cations.

Aggregation-induced emission enhancement (AIEE) of polyethylenimine functionalized with 3-allylrhodanine and specific detection for Ag+ ions

Huiying Guo et al.

Summary: In this study, polyethyleneimine (PEI) was successfully functionalized with 3-allylrhodanine (ARD) to obtain a PEI derivative (PEI-ARD) with aggregation-induced emission enhancement (AIEE) performance. PEI-ARD showed specific recognition and detection of Ag+ ions, even in the presence of other metal ions. The sensitivity of detection was significantly improved by enriching rhodanine moieties on PEI, with a detection limit as low as 90.7 nM. A reversible detection system for Ag+ ions was also fabricated using stronger complexation with SCN- ions. This research is of great importance for the detection and recognition of Ag+ ions in environmental and biological fluids.
