Barriers and facilitators to implementing community-based physical activity interventions: a qualitative systematic review

Summary: This review identified numerous facilitators and barriers to implementing physical activity interventions in the community. A key finding was the significant impact of implementation strategies on the successful implementation of community PA interventions. The study also suggests that more attention to individual skills and involvement is needed to enhance self-efficacy and knowledge.

How many key informants are enough? Analysing the validity of the community readiness assessment

Summary: A total of 55 community readiness interviews were conducted in four communities. Overall, little variation in community readiness scores was observed after interviewing 10 key informants in a community. However, even after completing 10 interviews in a community, key informants were still able to identify up to 6 new information items related to community efforts for physical activity promotion among the elderly, contact and communication channels for reaching the target group, or barriers to participation.

Increasing Community Readiness for Childhood Obesity Prevention: A Case Study of Four Communities in Georgia

Significant improvements were observed in key areas such as resources, leadership, and community climate. Investing in staff, raising awareness, and fostering cross-sector collaboration were identified as key strategies to enhance community readiness.
