Tunable Luminescence of Silver Nanoclusters Confined in SOD/FAU Zeolites and Selective Sensing for Organic Amine

Qianrui Li et al.

Summary: A series of Ag-zeolite luminescent composites were synthesized and their luminescent properties were found to be affected by the zeolite particle size for the first time. The nucleation of silver nanoclusters (AgNCs) was found to be slower in larger zeolites, resulting in smaller nuclearity of AgNCs and significant blue shift in the luminescent color. The composites showed excellent selectivity and sensitivity for discriminative luminescence detection of triethylamine and ethylamine, and also exhibited reversible luminescence response after sensing HAc gas, suggesting potential applications in volatile organic amine detection and information encryption.

High-Quantum-Efficiency Blue Phosphors with Superior Thermal Stability Derived from Eu3+-Doped Faujasite Y Zeolite

Xinzhe Zhou et al.

Summary: A highly efficient blue-emitting phosphor with superior thermal stability was successfully synthesized by heating Eu3+-doped Faujasite Y zeolite under a reducing atmosphere. The intensity and peak value of the phosphor were highly dependent on the calcination temperature and reached a maximum at 1100 degrees C. Under 360 nm excitation, the phosphor exhibited a high quantum efficiency (90%) and thermal stability (the emission intensity at 423 K was about 125% of that at room temperature). White light-emitting diodes (WLEDs) fabricated using this blue phosphor, a yellow Eu2+-SOD phosphor, and a commercially available red Sr2Si5N8:Eu2+ phosphor showed excellent optical performance with a correlated color temperature of 4359 K and a color rendering index of 97. This work provides a new strategy for the synthesis of phosphors with high thermal stability and luminous efficiency.

Stable and Highly Luminescent Silver Nanoclusters in the 13X Zeolite Enabled by Mg2+ Doping and Their Luminescence Tuning by Heating Temperature

Qianrui Li et al.

Summary: This study observed that introducing Mg2+ can enhance the stable yellow emission of Ag-13X zeolite and provided Ag-zeolite with a broad emission band and high photoluminescent quantum yield (PLQY) as a candidate material to replace traditional yellow-emitting phosphor. This work contributes as a valuable reference for the rational design of silver nanoclusters confined in zeolites and stimulates potential applications as novel phosphors.

Tunable luminescence of silver-exchanged SOD zeolite thermally treated under mild conditions

Xinle Tian et al.

Summary: Luminescent silver nanoclusters were synthesized in SOD zeolites by incorporating Ag+ and Cs+ ions and adjusting the silver content, resulting in dynamic emission color shift. The addition of Cs+ ions significantly enhanced the luminescence intensity and photoluminescence quantum yields, changing the microenvironment surrounding the formed silver nanoclusters. The wide excitation range of these silver-zeolite composites opens up potential applications in NUV-LEDs.

Silver Nanoclusters Loaded in Analcime Zeolite for Tunable Luminescence

Qianrui Li et al.

Summary: This study reports a method for assembling silver nanoparticles in zeolite to prepare luminescent nanocomposites with adjustable emission color. The addition of terephthalic acid prevents the formation of non-luminescent silver nanoparticles, increases the photoluminescence yield, and allows for color tuning of the resulting composites.

A full visible LED enabled by a broadband yellow emission nepheline phosphor derived from a europium doped SOD zeolite

Xinzhe Zhou et al.

Summary: This study successfully developed a broadband yellow phosphor with excellent thermal stability by heating a europium-doped SOD zeolite under a reducing atmosphere. The phosphor exhibited a broad emission band and high thermal stability under UV excitation. Prototype white LEDs using this phosphor, along with other phosphors, demonstrated excellent color quality and low correlated color temperature, outperforming most tricolor NUV-LEDs.

Origin of the polychromatic photoluminescence of zeolite confined Ag clusters: temperature- and co-cation-dependent luminescence

Li Sun et al.

Summary: This study investigates the photoluminescent properties of zeolite-confined silver clusters (AgCLs) and reveals the influence of temperature and co-cation composition on their luminescence. It is found that the AgCLs exhibit polychromatic luminescence due to the presence of three long-lived triplet states separated by a small energy barrier. The decay time is also affected by the Li-content, indicating the importance of guest-host-guest interactions in tuning the luminescent properties. These findings provide insights for the rational design of confined metal clusters and the development of specified applications of Ag-zeolites.
