Efficacy of Presbyopia-Correcting Contact Lenses: A Systematic Review

Ainhoa Molina-Martin et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to critically analyze clinical trials on presbyopia correction with contact lenses (CLs) to evaluate the quality of the research conducted. A search was performed in PubMed database and a total of 16 clinical trials were selected for evaluation. The results showed high-quality scientific evidence supporting the use of presbyopia-correcting CLs.

Seeing the future: Predictive control in neural models of ocular accommodation

Jenny C. A. Read et al.

Summary: This article introduces the process of ocular accommodation and the mechanism of accommodative control. A unified model of accommodative control is proposed using control theory, which explains the accommodative response to different stimuli. It is concluded that dual integral control can explain most aspects of accommodation. However, there are complications in the system due to sensorimotor latencies and sluggish motor plant response, which can be overcome by incorporating a Smith predictor. Additionally, a novel proportional-control signal is proposed to explain the power spectrum of accommodative microfluctuations during steady fixation.

Binocular fusion enhances the efficiency of spot-the-difference gameplay

Kavitha Venkataramanan et al.

Summary: The results suggest that using binocular fusion in spot-the-difference game significantly speeds up gameplay and reduces errors, especially across different target sizes, contrasts, and chromaticity. Features containing polarity difference were predominantly identified first in both gameplay modes, with a higher proportion in the fusion mode.
