Mechanical model for the full range behaviour of bolted T-stubs

Jiafeng Lyu et al.

Summary: A new mechanical model for bolted T-stubs is proposed, which accurately captures the full range behavior and considers multiple failure modes. The model shows good agreement in experimental tests and exhibits higher accuracy compared to previous models, particularly in ultimate resistance and ductility.

Comprehensive studies on the behaviors of high strength steel T-stubs with thin-walled flange at elevated temperatures

Weiyong Wang et al.

Summary: This paper presents experimental, numerical, and theoretical studies on the fire behaviors of high-strength Q690 steel T-stub connections. The experiments determine failure modes, load-displacement curves, ultimate displacement, ductility factors, and load capacities at elevated temperatures. A finite element model is established to explore the effect of bolt preload and bolt grade on the fire behaviors of T-stubs. The theoretical model accurately anticipates the progression of the plastic hinge line and the first yield resistance, suggesting the use of 2.0% yield strength of high-strength steel for calculating the first yield resistance of steel T-stubs.

Experimental study on mechanical properties of Q690D high strength steel during the cooling stage of fire

Mengjie Wang et al.

Summary: This study experimentally investigated the mechanical properties of high strength steel (HSS) Q690D at the cooling stage of fire. The results showed that the differences in mechanical properties between the cooling and heating stages were relatively small at low ultimate heating temperatures (Tu ≤ 400℃), but increased significantly as Tu exceeded 800℃. The effects of cooling rate and holding duration on the ultimate strength of Q690D steel at the cooling stage were negligible, but these factors had a notable influence on Young's modulus, yield strength, and ductility.

Tensile and shear strength of 10.9 grade bolts in heating and cooling fire

Suman Kumar Mushahary et al.

Summary: This paper presents an experimental study on the tensile and shear capacity of 10.9 grade bolts in heating and cooling fire, focusing on the properties during the cooling phase. The study includes testing 44 specimens at different temperatures and phases, and analyzing the results. The study shows that the strength in the cooling phase is regained linearly up to around 400 degrees C, with little enhancement as the specimens cool further. The reduction in strength is higher in tensile tests compared to shear tests, and different reduction factors are proposed based on the experimental data. The shear strength regain is higher than the tensile strength in the cooling phase.

Cyclic behaviour and hysteretic model of austenitic stainless steel bolted T-stubs

H. X. Yuan et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the hysteretic behavior of stainless steel bolted T-stub connections through testing different bolt configurations and materials. The developed hysteretic models are proven to accurately simulate the energy dissipation of stainless steel connections under cyclic loading.
