Three-dimensional structural displacement measurement using monocular vision and deep learning based pose estimation

Chujin Sun et al.

Summary: This study proposes a 3D structural displacement measurement method using monocular vision and deep learning based pose estimation. The method synthesizes a training set using virtual rendering, trains a deep learning model called DPOD to estimate the poses of the target object, and finally measures the 3D translation of the structures based on the original and destination poses or the original pose and keypoint matching.

Summary: Understanding the dynamic behavior of as-built structures is crucial for assessing their condition. This study proposes a method that combines a stereo camera, multi-level image pyramid reconstruction, and operational modal analysis to extract out-of-plane modal properties. The results from numerical and experimental validations demonstrate that the proposed approach offers fast, accurate, and noise-robust determination of modal properties.

Structural displacement estimation by fusing vision camera and accelerometer using hybrid computer vision algorithm and adaptive multi-rate Kalman filter

Zhanxiong Ma et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a technique for estimating structural displacement by fusing asynchronous acceleration and vision measurements. By integrating a hybrid computer vision algorithm and an adaptive multirate Kalman filter, high-sampling displacements can be efficiently estimated from low-sampling vision measurements and high-sampling acceleration measurements. Experimental validation shows that the proposed technique accurately estimates high-sampling displacements in real-time with less than 1.5 mm error, indicating its potential for practical applications in long-term continuous structural displacement monitoring.

Multi-scale depth classification network for monocular depth estimation

Yi Yang et al.

Summary: In addition to RGB information, depth information is crucial in image analysis. This paper proposes a multiscale classification network for depth estimation, which tackles the problem by transforming depth values into a nonlinear combination of multiple depth interval values. The network utilizes the correlation of depth information to determine the weight values of each interval. Furthermore, the method employs feature maps with different resolutions to predict depth maps, with lower-resolution maps capturing overall contour and higher-resolution maps providing more accurate object edge details. The desired depth map is obtained through convolution of predicted depth maps at multiple scales.
