Faculty development workshop on gender-associated incivility in nursing education

Summary: This study aimed to train nursing faculty to prevent, identify, and manage gender-associated incivility in the educational environment. Through a day-long interactive workshop and Kirkpatrick's Model of Evaluation, participants gained a greater understanding of the impact of such incivility and felt more empowered to address gender-related conflicts in the nursing education environment. Similar approaches may be useful for schools of nursing seeking to empower their faculty to create an equitable learning environment free of gender-associated incivility.

Cultural Humility Meets Antiracism in Nurse Leader Training

Summary: After the tragic killing of George Floyd, nurse leaders seized the national moment of reflection to establish individual and organizational commitments to racial equity. At the University of California Davis Health, a training approach integrating cultural humility with antiracism was developed to equip nurse leaders to address the nation's history of race relations and its impact on health equity. The pivotal leadership decisions highlighted in this discussion facilitated cocreation of strategies to advance equity in nursing practice and organizational change.

Building bridges and capacity for Black, Indigenous, and scholars of color in the era of COVID-19 and Black Lives Matter

Summary: This research examines the experiences of three Black nurse scholars during the COVID-19 pandemic and civil unrest in the United States, identifying barriers that impact workplace climate, collaboration, and mentoring for BIPOC nursing scholars. To support the success of these scholars, strategies to enhance workplace climate, develop culturally aware collaboration, and prioritize mentoring are recommended.
