Summary: This study assessed the impact of Grade III coronary perforations (G3-CP) in the setting of CTO-PCI and found similar in-hospital and long-term outcomes between CTO-PCI and non CTO-PCI when G3 perforations occurred. Wire induced G3-CP was more common when dedicated CTO wires were used.

Summary: Coronary perforation is a potential life-threatening complication of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), with an incidence of approximately 0.39%. Around 1 in 5 perforations result in tamponade. The incidence of Ellis III perforations is increasing and they account for 43% of all perforations. The mortality rate associated with perforation has decreased in recent years.
