On the dynamic behaviour of discrete metamaterials: From attenuation to energy localization

The objective is to exploit these two mechanisms to generate a system capable of localizing the energy carried by waves, using a 1D lattice structure with an internal defect for energy localization. An extensive discussion on the interaction between the two attenuation mechanisms is also provided.
