Estimation of the atmospheric boundary layer height by means of machine learning techniques using ground-level meteorological data

Francisco Molero et al.

Summary: In this study, machine learning techniques were used to predict the height of the atmospheric boundary layer (ABL). Ground-level meteorological data and lidar instrument readings were used as features for the algorithm. The study found that temperature, relative humidity, and wind velocity are important predictors for ABL height, while radiation has a smaller influence.

Synoptic classification of meteorological patterns and their impact on air pollution episodes and new particle formation processes in a south European air basin

Pedro Salvador et al.

Summary: A circulation classification technique based on daily sea level pressure fields was used to classify homogeneous synoptic types in the Iberian Peninsula, which were then validated by analyzing meteorological variables and stability parameters. The specific synoptic meteorological patterns influenced wind circulations and turbulent processes at different spatial scales.
