The research documents the architectural features and aesthetic characteristics of Al-Sinaniyya Mosque, analyzing the proportions and geometrical system adopted in its design, which enriches the understanding of the mosque.
Al-Sinaniyya Mosque is considered as one of the most important mosques in Damascus during the Ottoman era, and it has been given great attention by historians and writers because of the magnificence of its construction and decorations. However, their interest was limited to studying the mosque from the historical point of view more from the architectural point of view, lacking architectural plans and accurate description .In this research, Al-Sinaniyya Mosque was documented by describing its elements and their aesthetics, and by survey of architectural plans using simple tools and computer programs. The proportions followed in the design of Al-Sinaniyya Mosque, which gave it the characteristic of beauty, were also analyzed, which showed the adoption of a Geometrical System based on the golden spiral resulting from the Fibonacci sequence in the design of the facade, and the adoption of simple and virtuous proportions that rule the general relationships between the elements.
