Ag-nanoparticles-anchored mesoporous In2O3 nanowires for ultrahigh sensitive formaldehyde gas sensors

D. L. Kong et al.

Summary: Ag nanoparticles were implanted into mesoporous indium oxide nanowires to form Ag-loaded In2O3 NW, which greatly influenced the specific surface area and interface oxygen vacancies. Ag-loaded In2O3 sensors showed improved gas-sensing performance for formaldehyde (HCHO), with a lower operating temperature and higher response compared to In2O3 sensors. The formation of Schottky heterojunctions at the interface between Ag and In2O3 increased the resistance of Ag-loaded In2O3 sensors in air and HCHO gas.

Mesoporous Co3O4/In2O3 nanocomposites for formaldehyde gas sensors: Synthesis from ZIF-67 and gas-sensing behavior

W. Q. Guo et al.

Summary: Mesoporous In2O3 nanowires were synthesized and Co3O4/In2O3 nanocomposites were prepared. The presence of Co3O4 nanoparticles greatly affected the microstructures and gas-sensing properties of the sensors. The 8% Co3O4/In2O3 sensor exhibited excellent performance with the highest response (113.6) and shortest response time (20 s) to HCHO gas. The p-n heterojunctions between Co3O4 and In2O3, as well as the presence of oxygen vacancies, played important roles in improving the gas-sensing behavior.

Fast-response MEMS xylene gas sensor based on CuO/WO3 hierarchical structure

Mengmeng Guo et al.

Summary: In this study, hierarchical hollow microspheres of CuO/WO3 assembled from 2D nanosheets were prepared and their sensing performance was evaluated. The CuO/WO3 sensors showed improved gas sensing performance compared to pristine WO3 sensor, with CuO/WO3-3 sensor exhibiting the highest response value and faster response-recovery speed towards xylene. The unique 3D hierarchical structure and p-n heterojunction of CuO-WO3 contribute to the enhanced sensing properties.

Pt decoration and oxygen defects synergistically boosted xylene sensing performance of polycrystalline SnO2 nanosheet assembled microflowers

Yue Xing et al.

Summary: Hierarchical SnO2 microflowers assembled by polycrystalline nanosheets were successfully synthesized and decorated with Pt nanoparticles to improve gas sensing properties. Pt/SnO2 nanosheets exhibited higher response value and shorter response/recovery time compared to pure SnO2, attributed to the unique hierarchical structure and abundant oxygen defects induced by Pt-decoration.

Cadmium sulfide in-situ derived heterostructure hybrids with tunable component ratio for highly sensitive and selective detection of ppb-level H2S

Yubing Gao et al.

Summary: In this study, pine needles-like CdS/CdO heterostructure hybrids were synthesized through hydrothermal treatment and subsequent self-template oxidation approach. The component ratio of the hybrids could be controlled by adjusting the annealing treatment protocol, leading to the optimization of morphology, electrical characteristics, and gas sensing properties. The resulting CdS/CdO hybrids were used as sensitive materials for H2S gas sensors, exhibiting high sensitivity, ppb-level limit of detection, and excellent selectivity.

High performance acetaldehyde gas sensor based on p-n heterojunction interface of NiO nanosheets and WO3 nanorods

Umesh T. Nakate et al.

Summary: A chemi-resistive sensor based on P-N heterojunction was designed by incorporating NiO nanosheets into WO3 nanorods. Among the sensors fabricated with different weight ratios, NW2 exhibited the highest response for 100 ppm acetaldehyde concentration at 250 degrees C and showed good stability and repeatability. The high performance of NW2 sensor is attributed to the formation of the p-n heterojunction between NiO and WO3, making it a promising candidate for acetaldehyde sensing applications.
