Continuous direct air capture and methanation using combined system of membrane-based CO2 capture and Ni-Ca based dual functional materials

Lingcong Li et al.

Summary: Direct CO2 capture from the air by membranes (m-DAC) is a promising technique, and a continuous system for CO2 capture and reduction by hydrogen (m-DAC-M) was developed using Ni-Ca/Al2O3 as a dual functional material (DFM). The Ni-Ca/Al2O3 exhibited excellent catalytic properties with high CH4 productivity and selectivity, good stability, and high humidity resistance. The CaO species in Ni-Ca/Al2O3 not only adsorbed concentrated CO2 but also promoted the reduction of surface carbonate species to CH4.

Continuous CO2 Capture and Selective Hydrogenation to CO over Na-Promoted Pt Nanoparticles on Al2O3

Lingcong Li et al.

Summary: The capture and reduction of CO2 using dual-functional materials for the production of C1 compounds has attracted attention as a promising process for CO2 emission reduction and utilization. In this study, Na-promoted Pt nanoparticles supported on Al2O3 were developed as an effective dual-functional material for selective CO production by capturing diluted CO2 and subsequent reduction by H-2. The developed system demonstrated stable CO2 capture ability and CO productivity for at least 100 hours of continuous operation. The effect of basic promoters on the system performance was also investigated.

Tunable Carbon Dioxide Activation Pathway over Iron Oxide Catalysts: Effects of Potassium

Pengfei Tian et al.

Summary: This study examines the effect of potassium on iron oxide catalysts, revealing that introducing potassium can increase surface basicity and alter the preferred CO2 activation reaction pathway. Understanding the controlling factors and competition between the two CO2 activation mechanisms can potentially aid in the rational design of catalysts for CO2 hydrogenation.

Recent advances in integrated CO2 capture and utilization: a review

Shuzhuang Sun et al.

Summary: CO2 capture and utilization is a promising solution to reduce the impact of CO2, with ICCU showing many advantages over traditional CCU processes, requiring attention to key process parameters and the development and application of dual-functional materials. CaO as an adsorbent in combination with CO2 utilization catalysts shows potential, but considerations such as cost and post-processing requirements are still relevant in industrial applications.
