PcTrim prevents early infection with white spot syndrome virus by inhibiting AP1-induced endocytosis

Xiao-Tong Cao et al.

Summary: Viruses use host transcription factors, such as NF-kappa b, STAT, and AP1, to transcribe their own early genes and achieve early infection. The host defends against this immune escape through TRIM family proteins with RING-type domains, which act as host restriction factors. In a study with red swamp crayfish infected with WSSV, the TRIM protein PcTrim was found to inhibit WSSV replication by binding to the virus protein VP26 and inhibiting AP1 activation, leading to reduced endocytosis of WSSV in crayfish hemocytes.

Epithelial-mesenchymal transition and its transcription factors

Pallabi Debnath et al.

Summary: Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a dynamic cellular process involved in converting epithelial cells into mesenchymal cells, and plays a crucial role in embryonic development, tissue fibrosis, wound healing, and cancer metastasis. Numerous transcription factors have been identified to regulate the EMT process, forming a complex regulatory network.

Interaction between Avian Leukosis Virus Subgroup J Surface Protein and Doublecortin-Like Kinase 1 Accelerates Cell Proliferation and Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition

Jing Zhou et al.

Summary: This study found that avian leukosis virus subgroup J (ALV-J) can activate epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and identified the tumor stem cell marker DCLK1, which interacts with ALV-J surface protein (SU). Overexpression of DCLK1 increased viral replication and cell proliferation, while interference of DCLK1 reduced viral replication and arrested cell proliferation. The increased accumulation of DCLK1 promoted EMT. These findings are important for understanding the mechanism of virus-induced tumor metastasis and identifying potential targets for control and clinical technology development.

CCDC12 promotes tumor development and invasion through the Snail pathway in colon adenocarcinoma

Fengying Du et al.

Summary: Integrative expression quantitative trait loci (eQTL) analysis identified a significant association between rs8180040 and Coiled-coil domain containing 12 (CCDC12) in colon adenocarcinoma (COAD) patients. Experimental validation confirmed the high expression of CCDC12 in COAD tissues, and its involvement in tumor cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and tumorigenicity. CCDC12 may modulate the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition process of colon cancer cells by regulating the Snail pathway.

Human-type sialic acid receptors contribute to avian influenza A virus binding and entry by hetero-multivalent interactions

Mengying Liu et al.

Summary: The recognition of receptors between human and avian viruses is not as strict as previously assumed, as human viruses can also bind to avian receptors and vice versa. This suggests that heteromultivalent interactions are crucial for host adaptation.
