Glyphosate toxicity: in vivo, in vitro, and epidemiological evidence

Rachel Lacroix et al.

Summary: Glyphosate, the most widely used agricultural chemical, is found everywhere in the environment. It kills plants and microorganisms by disrupting their ability to synthesize essential amino acids. Although its toxicity to humans and animals is heavily debated, recent studies provide evidence of glyphosate's toxic effects on animals. With increasing global use of glyphosate, it is important to discuss its toxicity and impact on human and environmental health. Overall significance: 8/10.

Herbicide Resistance: Managing Weeds in a Changing World

Rita Ofosu et al.

Summary: Over the years, agricultural interventions and technologies, such as herbicides, have contributed greatly to global food production. However, the success of chemical weed control has now brought about herbicide resistance in agricultural weeds, posing a threat to food security and human survival. This paper discusses the molecular background of herbicide resistant weed biotypes and proposes alternative non-chemical weed management methods to prevent further development and spreading of herbicide-resistant weeds.

Glyphosate vs. Glyphosate-Based Herbicides Exposure: A Review on Their Toxicity

Carlos Martins-Gomes et al.

Summary: Glyphosate-based herbicide has been widely used for weed management due to its effectiveness and perceived low toxicity. However, recent studies have raised concerns about the persistence and toxicity of glyphosate and its metabolites, as well as the role of surfactants in herbicide formulations. It is important to analyze and review these studies to redefine safety levels for glyphosate exposure.

Behavior evaluation of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) following temperature and ammonia alterations

Ahmad Mohamadi Yalsuyi et al.

Summary: This study assessed how acute changes in water temperature and dissolved ammonia concentration can affect the swimming behavior pattern of rainbow trout. The results showed significant changes in swimming pattern due to these factors, with differences in swimming parameters between treated fish and the control group. The study confirmed that changes in fish swimming pattern in response to water physicochemical parameters can be a valuable tool in ecotoxicological studies.

Histological effects of sublethal concentrations of insecticide Lindane on intestinal tissue of grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella)

Mohammad Forouhar Vajargah et al.

Summary: The study found that Lindane insecticide has significant acute toxicity effects on the intestinal tissues of immature grass carp, causing tissue lesions and abnormal behaviors. Increasing concentrations of Lindane have more severe impacts on the behavior and health of fish.
