Geochemical, mineralogical and petrographical characteristics of the domanik formation from north samara region in the volga-ural basin, Russia: Implication for unconventional tight oil reservoir potential

Shadi A. Saeed et al.

Summary: This paper comprehensively analyzes the properties of Domanik organic-rich carbonate in Kuzminovsky oilfield, Volga-Ural Basin. The results show that the samples have high organic matter content, excellent oil generation potential, and low thermal maturity. The porosity characteristics are mainly controlled by minerals and organic matter. Based on the findings, the Domanik Formation has a high potential for commercial oil production.

Different types of void space and quality of unconventional reservoirs in the Upper Devonian domanic high-carbon deposits of Mukhanovo-Erokhovsky trough (Volga-Ural basin)

V. V. Chupakhina et al.

Summary: This study considers the Domanic formation as an unconventional reservoir and proposes a method for assessing its reservoir properties. A comprehensive study of the void space in the Domanic deposits enables the prediction of zones with the best quality of reservoirs and successful production.

Rock thermal properties from well-logging data accounting for thermal anisotropy

A. Shakirov et al.

Summary: The limitations of existing techniques for in situ rock thermal property measurements and the necessity for methods of determining rock thermal properties based on well-logging data are highlighted. Advanced approaches for determining rock thermal properties from well-logging data to account for thermal anisotropy are essential, especially for heterogeneous and anisotropic rock types. An enhanced technique is proposed for predicting rock thermal conductivity from well-logging data by considering thermal anisotropy, with an uncertainty of less than 12%, and rock volumetric heat capacity with a total uncertainty of less than 5%.

Advanced Determination of Heat Flow Density on an Example of a West Russian Oil Field

Yury Popov et al.

Summary: Reliable geothermal data is essential for basin and petroleum system modeling. A new experimental study in the Orenburg region of Russia provided data on thermal properties and heat flow, showing a terrestrial heat flow 114% larger than previously published average data. This study supports basin modeling in unconventional plays with advanced geothermal investigations.
