Engineering Dynamically Decoupled Quantum Simulations with Trapped Ions

W. Morong et al.

Summary: An external drive is used to enhance coherence in a quantum many-body system and explore models not accessible in the static limit. The potential of combining these tools has not been fully explored. We develop a pulse sequence that decouples a quantum many-body system from an external field without affecting the intended dynamics. Experimental demonstration on an iontrap platform shows significant improvement in real-world coherence applications. Additionally, we engineer an approximate quantum simulation of the Haldane-Shastry model, expanding and unifying the quantum simulation toolbox.

Decoherence-free radio-frequency-dressed subspaces

G. A. Sinuco-Leon et al.

Summary: In this study, the spectral signatures and coherence properties of radio-frequency-dressed hyperfine Zeeman sublevels of 87Rb were investigated. Magic dressing conditions were identified where decoherence due to electromagnetic field noise is strongly suppressed. A bichromatic dressing configuration was proposed to reduce the global sensitivity of atomic ground states to low-frequency noise.
