How Leader's Red Tape Interacts With Employees' Red Tape From the Lens of the Job Demands-Resources Model

Summary: The public sector is currently undergoing a digital transformation, which can result in additional job demands on employees. One specific job demand is red tape caused by digital tools. By developing a theoretical model, this study shows a positive indirect relationship between red tape from digital tools and turnover intention, mediated by emotional exhaustion. Additionally, the study finds that the perception of red tape by leaders can exacerbate this relationship.

Reducing Red Tape's Negative Consequences for Leaders: The Buffering Role of Autonomous Motivation

Summary: The study found that role conflict was negatively related to taking charge, while role ambiguity was negatively related to individual innovation. Work engagement acted as a mediator in the relationships and the indirect relationships between role conflict and taking charge, and role ambiguity and individual innovation were stronger when the level of flexible role orientation was low.
