Studies on biotransformation mechanism of Fusarium sp. C39 to enhance saponin content of Paridis Rhizoma

Yiyang Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, it was found that the fermented extract of Paridis Rhizoma with Fusarium sp. C39 had stronger inhibitory effects on liver, cervical, and lung cancer cells compared to the unfermented extract. Through the analysis of metabonomics and transcriptome, it was discovered that strain C39 synthesized diosgenin and altered the configurations, sugar chains, and substituents of steroidal saponins in Paridis Rhizoma, enhancing the inhibitory effect on cancer cell proliferation.

Immunomodulatory Effect of Hispolon on LPS-Induced RAW264.7 Cells and Mitogen/Alloantigen-Stimulated Spleen Lymphocytes of Mice

Eun Kyeong Lee et al.

Summary: Hispolon is a versatile drug with anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antidiabetic properties, which can be extracted from the oriental medicinal mushroom Phellinus linteus. Research indicates that Hispolon has immunomodulatory effects on macrophages and lymphocytes, inhibiting oxidative stress, reducing inflammatory responses, and decreasing lymphocyte proliferation. It may have therapeutic potential for immune-mediated inflammatory diseases.

The ACE2-Ang-(1-7)-Mas Axis Modulates M1/M2 Macrophage Polarization to Relieve CLP-Induced Inflammation via TLR4-Mediated NF-κb and MAPK Pathways

Hang Pan et al.

Summary: The study showed that Ang-(1-7) inhibited pro-inflammatory cytokines while promoting anti-inflammatory cytokines, modulated macrophage polarization through the ACE2-Ang-(1-7)-MAS axis, and regulated TLR4 expression and NF-kappa B and MAPK pathways for anti-inflammatory effects. Additionally, splenomegaly and macrophage infiltration were observed in CLP-induced mouse models, with Ang-(1-7) effectively inhibiting M1 macrophage polarization.

IL-6 in inflammation, autoimmunity and cancer

Toshio Hirano

Summary: IL-6 is involved in various physiological processes including immune responses and inflammation. It plays a crucial role in chronic inflammation and cytokine storms, such as seen in COVID-19. The IL-6 amplifier, involving NF-kappa B and STAT3, is a key mechanism in promoting uncontrolled inflammatory responses.
