Climate Trends in Temperature and Water Variables during Wheat Growing Season and Impact on Yield

Anand Madhukar et al.

Summary: This study evaluates the impact of varying climate trends on wheat yields in India from 1986 to 2015, finding that most climate variables are negatively affecting wheat yields. The trends in maximum temperature, mean temperature, minimum temperature, vapor pressure deficit, and potential evapotranspiration are increasing in most Indian states, while variables like wet day frequency and vapor pressure are decreasing. Regression modeling explains up to 80% of wheat yield variability and highlights the importance of timely intervention in agricultural practices.

Innovative and polygonal trend analyses applications for rainfall data in Vietnam

Murat San et al.

Summary: The study compared the trends of monthly total rainfall in 15 stations in the Vu Gia-Thu Bon River Basin of Vietnam for the period 1979-2016, showing that Innovative Polygon Trend Analysis (IPTA) and Innovative Trend Analysis (ITA) with the Significance Test are more sensitive in detecting trends than Mann-Kendall (MK). In the 1-year hydrometeorological cycle, October is identified as the most critical month for trend transitions between consecutive months at almost all stations.

Evapotranspiration Trends and Interactions in Light of the Anthropogenic Footprint and the Climate Crisis: A Review

Stavroula Dimitriadou et al.

Summary: Evapotranspiration is a key parameter in the hydrological cycle and surface energy balance, affected by both natural phenomena and human activities. Its trends are influenced by key environmental variables, making generalizations difficult due to the complex nature of hydrological processes. In some regions, such as Mediterranean climate regions, increases in evapotranspiration can have significant implications on water availability and soil salinization.
