Study on corrosion behavior of Ni-P/Ni-Cu-P superhydrophobic composite coatings preparation on L360 steel by two-step method

Weizhi Zhang et al.

Summary: The electroless plating and electrodeposition process was used to prepare a Ni-Cu-P bilayer composite film with hydrophobic properties on the Ni-P film. The introduction of Cu inhibits the growth of cellular structures, increases nucleation points, and improves the microstructure of the Ni-Cu-P films. The Ni-P/Ni-Cu-P bilayer composite film has a pinecone-like convex structure, reduces surface energy, exhibits hydrophobicity, and effectively resists external impurities and fouling, improving corrosion resistance.

Corrosion behavior and protective performance of robustness mineralized layer formed on AZ80-0.38Nd (wt%) alloy

Chunlong Cheng et al.

Summary: In this paper, the corrosion behavior and protective performance of a novel robustness mineralized layer on the surface of AZ80-0.38Nd (wt%) alloy were investigated. The results show that the mineralized layer exhibited excellent anti-corrosion property in the NaCl solution compared with the oxide layer, due to the outstanding impermeability. The mineralized layer also presented better corrosion passivation and micro-galvanic corrosion inhibition effects due to the characteristics of slight defects and good adhesion to matrix. Additionally, the mineralized layer could launch CO3- during degradation of corrosion, slowing down the penetration of Cl across the layer and inhibiting the attack on the mag-nesium substrate.

Microstructure, properties and synergetic effect of graphene oxide-functionalized carbon nanotubes hybrid reinforced copper matrix composites prepared by DC electrodeposition

Jiaming Cao et al.

Summary: In this study, an efficient method to fabricate copper matrix composites (CMCs) with graphene oxide (GO)-carbon nanotubes (CNTs) hybrid reinforcement was reported. The orientation and synergetic effect of GO and CNTs in Cu matrix were systematically investigated. The addition of GO-CNTs hybrid reinforcement changed the preferred crystalline orientation of the Cu matrix and grain refinement effect was observed. The highest thermal conductivity, hardness, and corrosion resistance were achieved due to the synergistic effect and the formation of C-C covalent bonding between GO and CNTs.
