Room Temperature Intermolecular Dearomatization of Arenes by an Acyclic Iminosilylene

Summary: A novel nontransient acyclic iminosilylene compound with a bulky super silyl group and a methylated backbone was isolated. This compound shows intermolecular Bu''chner-ring-expansion-type reactivity, forming silicon analogs of cycloheptatrienes. The reactions with N-heteroarenes are faster and irreversible, resulting in azasilepins with nearly planar seven-membered rings.

An Air-Stable ?Masked? Bis(imino)carbene: A Carbon-Based Dual Ambiphile

Summary: Carbenes, once considered laboratory curiosities, now serve as powerful tools in chemistry and material sciences. This article describes the synthesis of a carbon-based dual ambiphilic carbene, which can activate organic molecules in 1,1- and 1,3-fashion. It also exhibits an unprecedented reversible intramolecular dearomative [3+2] cycloaddition, allowing it to mask itself as an air-stable cycloadduct.
