ACOUSTIC CHARACTERIZATION OF TISSUE-MIMICKING MATERIALS FOR ULTRASOUND PERFUSION IMAGING RESEARCH

Peiran Chen et al.

Summary: This study characterizes and compares the acoustic properties of seven tissue-mimicking phantom materials and five phantom case materials at different concentrations. Polyacrylamide (PAA) and polymethylpentene (TPX) are identified as the optimal materials for phantoms and their cases, respectively, for ultrasound perfusion imaging experiments. Power Doppler ultrasound imaging and contrast-enhanced ultrasound imaging are conducted to demonstrate the performance of the optimal materials.

Comprehensive experimental assessments of rheological models? performance in elastography of soft tissues

Sedigheh S. Poul et al.

Summary: Elastography researchers have utilized different rheological models to study the viscoelastic properties of soft tissues. However, it is unclear which model should be widely adopted within a theoretical framework. This study evaluated the performance of three rheological models on ex vivo bovine liver tissues and found that the KVFD model provided the most accurate representation of time and frequency data, and predicted the viscoelastic behavior of the liver accurately.

Sarah-Jane Estermann et al.

Summary: The study analyzed the impact of Thiel preservation on the mechanical properties of liver tissue and compared the results of fresh human liver, Thiel preserved liver, and porcine and bovine liver. The findings suggest that Thiel preservation is associated with increased stiffness and decreased viscoelastic damping behavior, and differences in mechanical properties between animal liver and human liver were observed.

Viscoelasticity measured by shear wave elastography in a rat model of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease: comparison with dynamic mechanical analysis

Zhaoke Pi et al.

Summary: The study evaluated liver steatosis in a rat model using shear wave elastography, finding a significant correlation between liver viscoelasticity values and steatosis grade. A combination of Voigt elasticity measurements was shown to be highly valid in predicting steatosis grades. These results suggest that shear wave elastography may be a feasible auxiliary technique for NAFLD patients in clinical settings. However, viscosity measurements between SWE and DMA differed significantly due to working in different frequency bands.
