Cognitive abilities affect decision errors but not risk preferences: A meta-analysis

Tehilla Mechera-Ostrovsky et al.

Summary: A systematic literature review and Bayesian meta-analysis found no credible association between cognitive abilities and risk aversion. The reported associations are mediated by a misinterpretation of erroneous choice behavior.

Valuation and estimation from experience

Sebastian Olschewski et al.

Summary: Through a series of experiments, it was found that participants undervalued distributions below their means, valued high-variance sequences lower than low-variance sequences, and valued left-skewed sequences lower than right-skewed sequences. These results were also observed in the mean estimation task, indicating a consistent pattern in valuation and estimation.

Distinguishing three effects of time pressure on risk taking: Choice consistency, risk preference, and strategy selection

Sebastian Olschewski et al.

Summary: The study found that time pressure increases the likelihood of people making risky choices, decreases choice consistency, and leads to a preference for using simple noncompensatory strategies. However, time pressure does not systematically affect people's risk preferences.
