Nickel-doped TiO2 and thiophene-naphthalenediimide copolymer based inorganic/ organic nano-heterostructure for the enhanced photoelectrochemical urea oxidation reaction

Jasmine Bezboruah et al.

Summary: To address global energy crises and environmental threats, researchers have developed an inorganic/organic nano-heterostructure as a photoanode for urea oxidation. This heterostructured photoanode demonstrates excellent urea oxidation efficiency driven by visible light. The hybrid photoanode exhibits high photostability, good solar-to-hydrogen conversion efficiency, and high faradaic efficiency for urea oxidation.

Surface-growing organophosphorus layer on layered double hydroxides enables boosted and durable electrochemical freshwater/ seawater oxidation

Shunfa Zhou et al.

Summary: A facile and universal strategy for fabricating organophosphorus (OP) layer encapsulated layered double hydroxide (LDH) is proposed for robust freshwater/seawater oxidation. This approach realizes superb oxygen evolution activity by facilitating electron transfer from metal ions in LDH to the phosphate groups in the OP layer using phytic acid (PA). The phosphate-rich OP layer efficiently avoids chloride corrosion and demonstrates durable seawater oxidation catalysis performance.

Stable NiPt-Mo2C active site pairs enable boosted water splitting and direct methanol fuel cell

Jing Li et al.

Summary: By employing an in-situ self-confinement strategy, NiPt-Mo2C active site pairs are encapsulated in carbon cages, resulting in improved catalytic activity for methanol oxidation reaction (MOR) and alkaline hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCs) and water electrolysis technologies. The mass activity of Pt in NiPt-Mo2C@C toward HER is boosted by 33 times, while the MOR catalytic activity is improved by 10.5 times, leading to a 9-fold increase in the DMFC maximum power density.
