Helicobacter pyhlori regulated microRNA map of human gastric cells

Poornima Ramesh et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the microRNA-mRNA interactions associated with Helicobacter pylori infection. A total of 39 microRNAs were identified to modulate 23 targets specifically studied under this infection. The analysis also revealed several cellular processes and pathways highly associated with cell cycle, cell division, migration, and carcinogenesis.

Environmental phenol exposure associates with urine metabolome alteration in young Northeast Indian females

Aishwarya Jala et al.

Summary: Urinary biomonitoring is the most accurate method for assessing environmental phenols exposure. This study aimed to investigate the association between environmental phenols exposure and the metabolome of young adult females from India. The study identified seven potential biomarkers and revealed the metabolic pathways altered by environmental phenol exposure. Additionally, an innovative strategy combining urinary metabolomics and machine learning algorithms was proposed for early disease prediction.

A blood-based miRNA signature for early non-invasive diagnosis of preeclampsia

Siqi Bao et al.

Summary: This study developed and validated a novel and robust blood-based miRNA signature (miR2PE-score) for the early detection of preeclampsia. The miRNA signature showed high diagnostic performance and outperformed previously published miRNA biomarkers in non-invasive diagnosis.

The Role of Mitochondrial Dysfunction in Preeclampsia: Causative Factor or Collateral Damage?

Alex N. Smith et al.

Summary: Preeclampsia, a new onset hypertension in pregnancy, affects 5%-10% of the world's population and is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality for both the mother and fetus. Recent studies suggest that mitochondrial dysfunction may contribute to the pathophysiology of preeclampsia, highlighting a potential avenue for therapeutic intervention.

The RNA landscape of the human placenta in health and disease

Sungsam Gong et al.

Summary: The study analyzed RNA from 302 human placentas and found that the placental transcriptome has low complexity, with a small number of genes accounting for a large portion of reads. Multiple circular RNAs and novel piRNAs were identified, as well as differences in mRNA, lincRNA, and circRNA associated with PE and FGR. Furthermore, the study identified a secreted protein FSTL3 as being differentially expressed in both PE and FGR, with elevated serum levels predicting subsequent PE and FGR.
