Reliability modeling for power converter in satellite considering periodic phased mission

Ying Zeng et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a new model of reliability considering the periodic phased mission system (PPMS) in space by using a new fusing failure rate. The new model is applicable not only to components following exponential distribution but also to others following Weibull distribution. Furthermore, the reliability of the converter in the satellite is modeled using the Dynamic Fault Tree and Markov Process (MP) at the converter level with the help of the state lumping method. The result shows that the reliability of the converter in the satellite is more accurate and reasonable compared to traditional methods.

Reliability analysis of the multi-state system with nonlinear degradation model under Markov environment

Hao Lyu et al.

Summary: This paper discusses the engineering applications of multi-state systems in complex environments and degeneration processes. A mixed shock model and a Markov chain embedding method are introduced to establish a reliability model considering both hard failure and soft failure processes. Numerical integration is used to derive the reliability function of the soft failure process, and the developed methodology is validated through an application of a microengine. Compared with the Monte Carlo simulation, this model provides a useful tool for assessing the reliability of multi-state systems with nonlinear degradation processes.

Operation-Based Reliability Assessment of Shore-to-Ship Charging Systems Including On-Shore Batteries

Siamak Karimi et al.

Summary: This paper proposes an operation-based reliability assessment framework for Shore-to-Ship Charging (S2SC) systems including On-Shore Batteries (OSB). The framework identifies the impact of operational planning on reliability and establishes a hierarchical reliability framework for evaluation. The analysis shows that batteries and the IGBTs in the power electronics converters are the most reliability-critical elements.

Reliability optimization of multi-state networks in a star configuration with bi-level performance sharing mechanism and transmission losses

Armaghan Azhdari et al.

Summary: This paper studies a multi-state star network with a bi-level performance sharing mechanism. The network consists of a main node and multiple terminal nodes, which are connected through primary transmission lines and can share performance through a secondary common bus. Transmission loss is taken into account for accurate reliability estimation, and the network reliability and optimal component allocation are calculated using a universal generating function method.

Fast and Accurate Modeling of Power Converter Availability for Adequacy Assessment

Amirali Davoodi et al.

Summary: This letter presents a method for modeling power converter availability in power system adequacy assessment, taking into account wear-out and chance failures to calculate an equivalent failure rate. Neglecting wear-out failures and the dynamic behavior of adequacy indices can lead to significant errors. Comparison with existing solutions through a case study shows the proposed method's superior performance in terms of accuracy and computational burden.

Optimal preventive maintenance policy of the balanced system under the semi-Markov model

Jingjing Wang et al.

Summary: The reliability problems of new systems like balanced systems have garnered more attention in recent years due to rapid technological advancements. However, research on maintenance optimization for balanced systems remains understudied, and existing policies for traditional systems are inadequate. A preventive maintenance optimization model is proposed under the semiMarkov model for balanced systems, with a focus on system balance and preventing system imbalance through timely maintenance actions. Numerical examples demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed preventive maintenance policy for repairmen.
