HECON: Weight assessment of the product loyalty criteria considering the customer decision?s halo effect using the convolutional neural networks

Gholamreza Haseli et al.

Summary: The increasing economic pressures and competition in markets have forced CEOs to make strategic decisions on developing and selling the right products to the right customers. In order to do this, companies need to understand the criteria that lead to customer loyalty. This study introduces a new method, called the HECON method, which considers the halo effect in customer decisions and uses convolutional neural networks (CNN) to assess the weight of product loyalty criteria.

Summary: In recent years, there has been a growing interest in developing next point-of-interest (POI) recommendation systems. However, current strategies lack mixing of details of user features. In this study, we propose a deep learning model based on an attention mechanism to overcome this issue. Experimental outcomes show a significant improvement over state-of-the-art strategies for POI recommendation.

A novel method for diagnosing Alzheimer's disease using deep pyramid CNN based on EEG signals

Wei Xia et al.

Summary: In this paper, a novel approach for diagnosing Alzheimer's disease using electroencephalography (EEG) is proposed. The modified DPCNN model achieved an average accuracy rate of 97.10% and an F1 score of 97.11% in classifying AD, MCI, and HC. The results demonstrate the excellent performance of the proposed method in accurately classifying the one-dimensional EEG data of AD.

Analysis of Brain Functional Network Based on EEG Signals for Early-Stage Parkinson's Disease Detection

Wei Zhang et al.

Summary: Early diagnosis of Parkinson's disease has always been challenging. This study aimed to identify potential biomarkers for early Parkinson's disease from scalp EEG detection methods. The findings showed that the synchrony of EEG channels in different frequency bands was significantly lower in early Parkinson's disease compared to healthy individuals, and this lower synchronicity was associated with weaker brain functional connections. Additionally, the analysis of brain network topology revealed abnormal characteristics in early Parkinson's disease. These results indicate significant pathological changes in brain function network in early Parkinson's disease.

Multi-dimensional conditional mutual information with application on the EEG signal analysis for spatial cognitive ability evaluation

Dong Wen et al.

Summary: This study proposes an effective method for evaluating spatial cognitive ability through the extraction and classification of EEG signals. The method incorporates a multi-dimensional conditional mutual information (MCMI) approach to calculate the coupling strength of channels and utilizes a convolutional neural network (CNN) model for image classification. The results show that the MCMI-based multi-spectral image transform features outperform other methods, with the best classification accuracy achieved on the Beta1-Beta2-Gamma band combination. The MCMI characteristics on this combination can serve as a biological marker for spatial cognition evaluation. The proposed feature extraction method based on MCMI offers a new perspective for assessing and analyzing spatial cognitive ability.

Deep learning for Alzheimer's disease diagnosis: A survey

M. Khojaste-Sarakhsi et al.

Summary: Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is an irreversible neurodegenerative disease that leads to a gradual decline in cognitive abilities. The early detection of AD is challenging due to subtle changes in biomarkers, which are primarily detectable in different neuroimaging techniques. This survey examines approximately 100 published papers since 2019 that utilize deep learning models such as CNN, RNN, and generative models for AD diagnosis. Additionally, it investigates around 60 papers that apply trending topics or architectures for AD research. The challenges in this field are categorized and explained in terms of data, methodology, and clinical adoption. The paper concludes by discussing future perspectives and providing recommendations for further studies in AD diagnosis.
