Potential distribution of four vectors of American Cutaneous Leishmaniasis: The effect of El Nino and La Nina episodes from the perspective of the ecological niche

Julian Avila-Jimenez et al.

Summary: The study found that climatic anomalies such as El Nino and La Nina have an impact on the potential distribution of American Cutaneous Leishmaniasis vectors. During El Nino, the potential distribution decreased over dry ecosystems, while during La Nina, it decreased over most of the Neotropic, with climatic suitability concentrated in the Andean and Amazon areas.
