A review of air travel behavior and climate change

Developing a High-Resolution Emission Inventory of China?s Aviation Sector Using Real-World Flight Trajectory Data

Summary: Economic growth and globalization have led to a significant increase in civil aviation demand in China. This study used a real-world flight trajectory-based emission inventory to analyze the environmental impacts of China's aviation sector. The results showed that fuel consumption and CO2 emissions had two peaks in altitude distribution, while different pollutants displayed varying vertical distributions. The conventional calculation approach underestimated the emissions of CO2 and air pollutants from short-distance domestic flights.
